About TheCalcDesk
Why We Exist
TheCalcDesk.com was built to solve a specific frustration: figuring out what it actually costs to renew a professional license, register a vehicle, or calculate quarterly taxes as a gig worker requires navigating state agency websites that are often outdated, confusing, and inconsistent. We built the tool we wished existed — a single, clearly organized resource with all the numbers in one place.
We're a free resource. No account required, no personal data collected, no paywalls. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser.
What We Cover
How Our Data Works
All fee data on TheCalcDesk is sourced from official state agency websites: licensing board fee schedules, state DMV rate tables, and state board of accountancy requirements. We do not use estimated or crowd-sourced data for the core fee numbers.
Our complete verification process is documented on our Methodology page, including which sources we use, how calculations work, and what limitations apply.
How We Fund TheCalcDesk
TheCalcDesk is funded by display advertising (Google AdSense) and may in the future include affiliate partnerships with accredited CE providers for licensed professionals. Any affiliate relationships will be clearly disclosed. Advertising revenue does not influence our fee data, editorial content, or calculator results — we show the same numbers regardless of who advertises.
See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Privacy
We do not collect personal information. No account is required. All calculations run in your browser. We use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic statistics (no personal data tied to calculator inputs). See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Spotted a Data Error?
State boards change their fees, CE requirements, and board names more often than most people realize. If you're a licensed professional who notices an error, we'd genuinely like to hear from you. Visit our Contact page to report a data error — include the correct value and a link to the official source. Verified corrections are applied in our next data update.
